This year's club trip in 2025 lasted two days and took us to the Appenzell region.
On Saturday, August 24, 2025, 23 of the 24 participants gathered at the Hohberg schoolhouse, where the 24th participant arrived shortly after 8 a.m. with the coach and driver.
Upon arriving in Appenzell, the first group had the opportunity to participate in the butcher's process, producing and tasting delicious boiled sausages.
The second group was taken to the Appenzeller Alpenbitter distillery. This group learned more about Appenzeller wine and also had a tasting.
After a delicious lunch, the groups switched places. Following the tours, everyone had free time in Appenzell.
After checking into the hotel, we went to the Waldegg Restaurant.
Here, we all got to visit a fourth-grade classroom and even practice writing cursive again.
We also ate lunch in the classroom. But what was certainly not lacking was laughter and fun.
We spent the night at the Hotel one66 in Abtwil near Gossau.
The second day took us to Flawil, where a roughly 1.5-hour hike awaited most of the participants.
Upon arriving at the Hirschen Egg restaurant near Flawil, we enjoyed a refreshing drink before continuing on to the Maestrani Chocolarium.
At Maestrani, we learned a great deal about happiness and chocolate, and of course, there was more tasting. We even decorated our own chocolate bars at the end.
We then returned to the Hirschen restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch on the lovely terrace.
Afterwards, we drove to Rickenbach-Wil for some bowling before heading back to Schaffhausen.
